ISO / IEC 17025 allows laboratories to demonstrate that they operate competently and generate valid results, thus promoting confidence in their work both nationally and worldwide.

SST capability consists of three main functions: sensor, processing, and service delivery. Member States' sensors provide data that is analyzed in the processing function and feeds a joint database and, finally, a catalog; from this, products are derived for three services, generated by the Operations Centers (OC) and delivered to users through the SST Service Provision Portal (SST Portal).
