Cap de la Unitat
It offers the possibility of conducting comprehensive studies, including initial advice on experimental design; RNA extraction, quantification, and initial quality control; matrix processing and bioinformatics analysis of results.
Resources and additional information
The High Technology Unit (UAT) is the core-preclinical installation of the VHIR that offers researchers state-of-the-art equipment and specialized technical advice, offering different services within its five Platforms (Genomics, Cytometry, Molecular Diagnosis, Metabolomics and Microscopy):
This platform aims to offer the scientific community services and protocols related to functional genomics, mainly dedicated to the profile of gene expression using microarrays: This platform is complemented by the services of our genomics platform, both for quantitative analysis and qualitative of nucleic acids as for the validation of the results obtained by qPCR.
Services
- Differential gene expression studies
- Profile of miRNAs and other non-coding RNAs
- Other applications (e.g., genotyping arrays) are available upon request.
Because these studies are often complex, we recommend that researchers contact us before starting the project, to discuss the best experimental approach including an individualized quote.
Equipment
The platform offers two systems for processing Thermo Fisher matrices (Affymetrix):
- GeneChip system for individual cartridge arrays. It includes two hybridization furnaces, two fluid stations and a 3000 7G scanner with automatic charger, coupled to a workstation controlled by the Affymetrix® GeneChip® Command Console® (AGCC) software. This equipment allows the processing of both expression and cytogenetics matrices (detection of SNPs and CNV).
- GeneTitan MC instrument for array boards (16x, 24x and 96x format). It is a semi-robotic system that combines goal hybridization, fluid processing and matrix scanning in a single instrument. This allows to increase the performance and improve the reproducibility, when reducing the technical variability introduced by the manual processing. The GeneTitan instrument allows the processing of expression plates, genotyping and microbiome studies.
