Gencardio Diagnostics is the first laboratory in Catalonia dedicated to the diagnosis of inherited cardiovascular diseases. The laboratory has its origins in the Cardiovascular Genetics Research Group, a group with consolidated clinical and research experience in the field of inherited heart disease leading in the discovery of some of these diseases, such as Brugada syndrome, and in the elaboration of the most important clinical guidelines.
Gencardio is a successful example of the impact on technology transfer of IDIBGI materialized in the provision of diagnostic services for cardiovascular genetic diseases, associated with arrhythmias and sudden death and other pathologies.
In order to maintain quality, keep up to date with advances in the field, and provide the best possible service for customers and users, it is essential to be able to manage specialized tests for rare family diseases from a center that combines diagnosis with research in the same field. Gencardio Diagnostics professionals combine the development of high-performance genetic tools, with the support of the clinical professional both in the choice of the necessary genetic study and in the advice and decision-making in the patient.
Gencardio Diagnostics has developed different panels available for genetic diagnosis and has several collaborations with foundations and companies for the development of genetic panels for various diseases, their manufacture and marketing.
Gencardio Diagnostics also collaborates with the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) and the University Hospital Dr. Josep Trueta with a panel on somatic cancer genetics, available to the public health system.
