• The Mice Unit occupies an area of ​​800 m2 and is prepared so that researchers can work under SPF (Specific Pathogen Free) conditions following the recommendations of FELASA. The Stable houses cages in ventilated racks all kinds of mouse strains, both immunocompetent and immunocompromised, genetically modified or not. In this type of housing, each cage works as a micro-insulator, so that it guarantees regulated and constant environmental conditions and prevents mice from being contaminated by pathogens. In addition to the ventilated racks, in the rooms where the mice are housed, everything is ready so that the material can be worked and stored while maintaining SPF conditions: there are laminar flow booths, anesthesia equipment, scales, tables and steel drawers. stainless, etc. Everything in the rooms, including feed and water from the mice, has been sterilized, either irradiated or autoclaved. The space to work in the stable includes 12 rooms to house mice, two quarantines, a Gene Therapy room (work under level II of Biosafety), an autopsy room and an diagnostic imaging room where there is an IVIS Lumina in regime self-service for users. In addition, there is a large washing area with two autoclaves, washing machines and bottle washers, warehouses for material and consumables and an administration area.
• The Zebrafish Unit covers an area of ​​about 66 m2, which is distributed between the rack room, the laboratory, the washing area and an external office near the entrance to the unit. In the rack room there are water racks for housing and quarantine, which can accommodate buckets for zebrafish of different capacities, and the laboratory is equipped with everything you need to be able to work with zebrafish, such as 5 microscopes and 2 artemia equipment. In the washing area there is an osmosis equipment that guarantees a constant supply of water with a stable composition and suitable for the maintenance of zebrafish.
