Cytometry

GINYS-IRBLL-003

Both units are located in the basement of the Biomedicine I building, in laboratories B-1.5 and B-1.1 respectively.

The Cytometry and Microscopy Service is divided into two locations, one for the Flow Cytometry Unit and another for the Confocal Microscopy Unit.

Services

The applications currently offered by this service are cell cycle studies, oxidative stress (different fluorescent probes), immunophenotyping, apoptosis (annexin V, caspase 6, phosphorylated histone H3, etc …), analysis of cytokine concentration by cytometric bead array (BD CBA), among others.

Equipment

The Flow Cytometry Unit currently has a FACS-Canto II digital analyzer cytometer (from Becton Dickinson) with 3 lasers with the 4-2-2 configuration and that allows to analyze up to 8 different colors. The cytometer is equipped with a computer to monitor its operation, which is installed with the analysis software FacsDiva v. 6.1.1. An automatic magnetic cell separator, AutoMACS Pro (Miltenyi Biotec) is also available in a Class II biosafety booth.

In addition, the service also has additional software for different applications such as ModFit LT for cell cycle analysis, FCAP Array for CBA (BD) experiments and two analysis software licenses. of FlowLogic cytometry files (Inivai). Other equipment available to the Cytometry Service are: 4ºC refrigerator, vortex, a set of micropipettes, printer, independent computer for the analysis of data once acquired.
