GINYS-IDIBELL-010
The HUB-ICO-IDIBELL Biobank is a public, non-profit establishment that was created with the aim of managing and regulating the different collections of biological samples collected at the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), in the Duran i Reynals Hospital (ICO) and other associated centers, in accordance with current regulations (Law 14/2007, of 3 July on Biomedical Research and RD 1716/2011, of 18 November).
The HUB-ICO-IDIBELL Biobank has been authorized by the General Directorate of Health Planning and Research of the Department of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya and is registered in the National Register of Biobanks of the Carlos III Health Institute in accordance with RD 1716/2011, which establishes the basic requirements for authorization and operation of biobanks for biomedical research purposes and the treatment of biological samples of human origin. The Biobank is part of the National Network of Biobanks.
Services
Activity and Objectives
The activities of the HUB-ICO-IDIBELL Biobank are to receive, process, store and distribute biological samples and their associated data for biomedical research, meeting technical and quality criteria, and guaranteeing ethical and legal requirements. Our main objectives are:
- Make biological samples and their associated data of high scientific interest available to the scientific community to contribute to the development of valuable knowledge in biomedical research.
- Manage and standardize existing sample collections on campus, and create new ones according to the most outstanding lines of research today.
- Promote quality practices and continuous improvement, complying at all times with ethical and legal requirements.
The HUB-ICO-IDIBELL Biobank offers researchers a wide range of services related to the processing, storage and management of samples. All Biobank procedures are performed following Standard Working Procedures (NTPs) established by biobank organizations (National Biobank Platform, ISBER and others).
