The Multi-Scale Microscopy for Archaeology unit is fully equipped with a range of low to high-powered with a range of low to high power close-up microscopes that offer the possibility of carrying out a detailed examination to cover different needs. The equipment includes two USB microscopes (PCE-MM200 and Dino-lite) for a versatile magnification and image capture, a Euromex DZ1 stereo microscope, a ZEISS Axio Scope A1 metallographic microscope, a Hirox KH8700 3D digital microscope to obtain high-resolution images and three-dimensional images, and a Sensofar S Neox 090 3D optical profilometer that combines confocal, interferometry, and focus variation measuring techniques The microscopy unit is accessed by researchers and students from various disciplines, including zooarchaeology, palaeontology, anthropology, and archaeobotany.

  • Observation of samples in a 3D digital microscope.

    stitching).

  • Obtaining measurements (profiles, distances, etc.).
 OPTICAL MICROSCOPY – ZEISS Aixoscope A1 metallographic
microscope.
  • Observation of samples in an optical microscope of
    reflected light.
  • Brightfield, darkfield, C-DIC (Circular Differential
    Interference Contrast). Metallographic.
  • Specialized software for assembling photographs.
